About Us
The owners, Willi and Gudrun Schumacher, live in Bremerhavn in Germany and visit the vineyard once a year. They are truly passionate about wine and are enjoying the results from Bellarmine.
Bellarmine is situated adjacent to the 100 year forest in Pemberton, Western Australia. Pemberton is blessed with a gentle and reliable climate; this consistency enables us to produce wines of quality and elegance.
Since the very first vintage of 2004, talented winemaker Dr Diane Miller has been making the wines at The Vintage Wineworx winery. Dr Miller is a qualified veterinarian and then returned to university to study winemaking. She has worked at Abbey Vale in Margaret River, in Oregon, at Peter Lehmann wines in the Barossa, and at Porongurup Winery which became the Vintage Wineworx.
Over this time Diane has overseen the making of hundreds of award-winning wines. In 2007, Diane was a State finalist in the Telstra Business Women's Awards in recognition of her management role at the Vintage Wineworx since 2004. Now in her second year of study for the highly respected Master of Wine qualification, Diane hopes to sit her exams in 2009.
From 1st July 2008, Diane took over the reins as Operations Manager for Bellarmine which means she oversees the vineyard, winemaking, as well as distribution and marketing for the wines. Diane decided to become involved due to the quality of the vineyard and the wines and also due to the Schumacher's clear passion for making premium wines.
Long term sales agent Peter Venoutsos is the Sales manager for the company and he has achieved wide distribution of the wines in Western Australia. The wines are also sold in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. Exports are also happening to Germany and the U.K.
